“Jesus’ Prayer”

Text:

John 17:1-10
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

A Wonderful Time of Vacation

Yes, it was a wonderful time of vacation!  Carolyn and I spent the first week around Claremore working and doing things that we just don’t have time for when in full scale ministry;  fence building, cleaning the creek area and repairing the home place.  We visited Daniel our first Wednesday evening off and were blessed.  We took off last Sunday morning and visited First Baptist, Luther, OK and Quail Springs Baptist in OKC.  Sunday evening we attended Vandenament Ave. Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, Yukon {where I was saved in 1957} We also went to the house where I lived there in Yukon as a child. Monday through Wednesday we stayed in OKC and rested.

On Wednesday evening we attended the Canadian Valley Baptist Church in Mustang, OK and went on to spend a couple of days with my sister and brother in law.  Yes.  It was a great time off!

I read this during my time off and wanted you to see this quote by Dr. Erwin Lutzer, senior pastor of Moody Church in Chicago.  It will be worth your  time to look this up and read it: https://us-mg205.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?.partner=sbc&.rand=cupdot39bv85v#mail

I was amazed at how much this guy agrees with what I have been saying the past few years.  I was blessed to see that others recognize the state the church is in!  If you are unable to open up this I will have a few copies at the church Wednesday evening for you to read.

Vacation time is here.  I hope every one of us will have time to spend vacating their mundane responsibilities for a short time this summer; but until then and when you return remember to fulfill your place of labor and responsibility ‘occupying’ until Jesus comes!  Luke 19:13And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.’

I do believe that Jesus is coming soon and I intend to ‘Occupy’ till He comes!

I will be back in the pulpit Wednesday evening.  Hope to see you then.
