The Beauty of Life in its Seasons

Fall is finally here and well received! These days of cool weather give hope for a break from summer and a picture of things to come! Fall has to be my favorite time of the year because all the failures of my gardening and landscaping talents are now of no importance as the beauty of fall takes our eyes from the ground to the sky! The leaves are withering and will soon be showing color and the pecans will be opening for a fall harvest! Yes, I can now stop thinking of weeding and tilling and sowing and begin to think of the beauty of fall!
You know seasons are here for a purpose: Genesis 8:22While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.’ God put this in His Word for the purpose of reminding us that He is in control of the weather and if the weather then the world and if the world…. our lives!
Our Lord Jesus rebuked the religious leaders of His day for understanding the signs of weather and seasonal changes but for not knowing the signs of the times…
Matthew 16:1-3 ‘The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, ‘When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?’ From this I can discern that God is in control of the weather and the times in which I live! The seasons declare our very lives! As babes we are in the spring of life…as we mature into young adults until around forty to fifty we are in the summer or fruitful days of our lives where we are making supply for the latter times of our lives; then we pass into the fall whereby we begin to live on the harvest of our summer days and begin to live on the fruit of our labor. Winter is coming when it is darker and colder and no way to produce anymore fruit; but must live on past accomplishments. Very few can continue on past seventy in their life of production… some can; most cannot!
It is important for us to know where we are in living our life as God has given us seasons to accomplish certain things. I think I now fully understand what Jesus meant when He said to His disciples: John 9:4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
There is a morning, noon and evening of our lives as well. There is much work God intends for us to accomplish before the time passes away: Ephesians 2:10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
It is a good time to re – evaluate your life and set priorities that only you can set.
We are exhorted in Isaiah 55:6Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:It is time to do that!
And that is the bottom line.
See you soon….Bro. Wayne
