Calendar and Podcast

Rehoboth’s Calendar on the Web Site

On the right column of each page on this web site, you can see the upcoming events for

Rehoboth Baptist Church from our church calendar. They are ordered by date, but show the next several scheduled events (Sunday School, Sunday morning worship, Discipleship Training, etc.) Just hold your mouse over a day on the calendar and events for that day

will appear. If you are using a mobile device (like a smart phone), the calendar will probably be at the bottom of the page instead of the right column. In this case, tap the bold date to display the schedule.

These “events” may be nothing new to most of us, but keep an eye on it for those special events that occur occasionally. For example, the week of Thanksgiving, we always have a special service on Tuesday, rather than Wednesday. On the calendar, this will be evident. Also, special events like choir practice, kid’s play practice, or The Brookfield service will also be on the calendar.

If you have a Podcast app on your phone or music player, you can download the sermons as they become available. Just go to the bottom of any page on our site and look for the RSS feed icon (the small icon above this paragraph). RSS stands for “Rich Site Summary” and is a way to syndicate data. When you click on this icon, your phone should recognize this as a Podcast and offer to subscribe you to our “feed”. These are the new uploads to the site (audio files, blogs, etc.) This should be an easy way to listen to the sermons each week if you choose to do so.

Many web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) will also have toolbars or apps built into them that allow you to track the same feed. Unlike an audio player, this will help you to know when any changes are posted to the web sites you are interested in following. Like on a phone, you can click on the icon from your computer and see what happens. Most likely, you’ll be taken to a new page with an offer to subscribe to the feed. Try it out and see if you like it. There is plenty of info about feeds online if you want to know more.

Well, I hope this helps. You are always welcome to comment below this blog post, or any blog on the site. The Pastor might like getting some feedback on his weekly blog (which is his newsletter article), so give him (or me) some comments!

1Timothy 3:8-16
(8)  Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
(9)  Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
(10)  And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
(11)  Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
(12)  Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
(13)  For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
(14)  These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
(15)  But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
(16)  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
