Calendar and Podcast

Rehoboth’s Calendar on the Web Site

On the right column of each page on this web site, you can see the upcoming events for

Rehoboth Baptist Church from our church calendar. They are ordered by date, but show the next several scheduled events (Sunday School, Sunday morning worship, Discipleship Training, etc.) Just hold your mouse over a day on the calendar and events for that day

will appear. If you are using a mobile device (like a smart phone), the calendar will probably be at the bottom of the page instead of the right column. In this case, tap the bold date to display the schedule.

These “events” may be nothing new to most of us, but keep an eye on it for those special events that occur occasionally. For example, the week of Thanksgiving, we always have a special service on Tuesday, rather than Wednesday. On the calendar, this will be evident. Also, special events like choir practice, kid’s play practice, or The Brookfield service will also be on the calendar.

If you have a Podcast app on your phone or music player, you can download the sermons as they become available. Just go to the bottom of any page on our site and look for the RSS feed icon (the small icon above this paragraph). RSS stands for “Rich Site Summary” and is a way to syndicate data. When you click on this icon, your phone should recognize this as a Podcast and offer to subscribe you to our “feed”. These are the new uploads to the site (audio files, blogs, etc.) This should be an easy way to listen to the sermons each week if you choose to do so.

Many web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) will also have toolbars or apps built into them that allow you to track the same feed. Unlike an audio player, this will help you to know when any changes are posted to the web sites you are interested in following. Like on a phone, you can click on the icon from your computer and see what happens. Most likely, you’ll be taken to a new page with an offer to subscribe to the feed. Try it out and see if you like it. There is plenty of info about feeds online if you want to know more.

Well, I hope this helps. You are always welcome to comment below this blog post, or any blog on the site. The Pastor might like getting some feedback on his weekly blog (which is his newsletter article), so give him (or me) some comments!

Our New Website

I hope everyone is  getting a chance to take a look at our web site. If you find an error or problem, please let me know ( Our plans are to make this a familiar place to stay current with each other and give others a chance to see how God is working in and through us.

Over the next few weeks we plan on posting the weekly newsletter here, have regular articles (blogs) posted by the pastor and others, uploading sermon audio in a timely manner, and perhaps someday we can post video of the services. The plan is to announce events before they happen so everyone knows what’s planned and can participate.

For example, next Wednesday evening, beginning at 5 pm, we’ll have a chili cook-off where you are all invited to make some chili and share it with others. We plan to give the kids (and adults) a good time of enjoyment and fellowship. The next evening (October 31st) several of us have volunteered to go to Lucas and Emily Shearer’s home to share the gospel with the neighborhood kids and parents as they “trick or treat”. Of course, everyone is invited and you should consider being a part. It should be an excellent opportunity to share Christ with someone who may otherwise never hear the Gospel.

So that’s the plan. If you have suggestions, I’d love to hear them. Although we will still maintain the CD and DVD ministry, bulletins, and the other usual things, we want this web site to be a success: a ministry and a message to those in and out of our church.
