The Tax man cometh!  Because of Good Friday Holiday the government pushed the tax due day from April 15 to April 18, that is tomorrow!  I sent in my first quarter estimated taxes Saturday.  I filed my taxes back in March.  Paying taxes is not a new thing.  It was a point of contention even in Jesus’ day: Matthew 17:24-27And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.’

But Jesus settled that issue forever.  ‘Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them’ So followers of Jesus pay their taxes!  But sometimes it is sure a point of contention!

There is coming a time when the entire world will be taxed: Much like the one in Luke 2 where the Caesar of Rome, Augustus, enrolled all the world in order to tax them.  The Prophecy concerning this coming taxation is found: Daniel 11:20&21Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.’

This vile person is known to us as ‘the man of sinII Thessalonians 2:3&4Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.’ Who will fulfill the words of Daniel in his prophecy.  It seems to me that we are fast approaching the appointed time!

This time of the year has long been held by the Israeli calendar to be of great prophetic significance: From the Passover to Pentecost…a fifty day period of great events to both Jew and Christian alike.  Next week I will share with you specific Holy Days and their importance to us.  Until then:

Romans 11:1-11  I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.  (2)  God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,  (3)  Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.  (4)  But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.  (5)  Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.  (6)  And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.  (7)  What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded  (8)  (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.  (9)  And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:  (10)  Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.  (11)  I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
