2 Corinthians 8:5-15  And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.  (6)  Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.  (7)  Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.  (8)  I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.  (9)  For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.  (10)  And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.  (11)  Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.  (12)  For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.  (13)  For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:  (14)  But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:  (15)  As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

Malachi 3:7-12  Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?  (8)  Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.  (9)  Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.  (10)  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  (11)  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.  (12)  And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

Summertime and building!

It’s Monday morning as I write this article. It is 7:22 a.m. It is a beautiful morning with rain coming our way again. I do believe this has to be one of the best spring/summer time I can remember {summer began yesterday} although it is pretty warm and very sticky with all the rain and humidity, I still can’t help but praise the Lord for the beautiful mornings we are having! My garden is growing {my corn is almost eight feet tall!} tomatoes are all over the vines and potatoes are growing like a jungle! The mowing is finished for a couple of weeks and one of my hens has hatched out three chicks with two to go! Life is good on the Keely Ponderosa!
We had 129 in Sunday school and although the worship crowd did not get counted it was absolutely full! Our building project needs to be underway soon. We should hear from our Architect anytime now and with the process of getting permits from the City of Claremore, it shouldn’t be long now. We are moving ahead on our finances for building debt free with money coming in every week designated for the building. Will you pray and give as God leads you in your part of the building process? Rehoboth is your church and your part will bring blessing to you and Glory to God as we, together see Him bring our church into completion of the building process.
II Corinthians 8:1-9 ‘Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God. Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.’
There is no doubt that God shows Himself mightily to whosoever believes in Him and walks by faith, trusting their own lives to Him.
Pray for us that His will might be done.

The Gift

Christmas is over for another year. The opening of gifts was a fun time for all. It is always fun to watch the children open packages that they have no idea what is inside! Then to see the overwhelming joy of getting something {they think they couldn’t live without} only to see it lying on the floor just a short time later is a lesson in human nature.
As a dad and grandpa I want to give all my children and grandchildren {yes and even great grandchildren} something they want AND need. I have come to almost despise the pressure of gift giving that has to be done on cue.
Actually, I love to give gifts! I do believe my greatest joy has been just that. I suppose that is why I give candy to the children around here, it is something they want and something I have. That equals the perfect solution to a giving and receiving heart! But birthdays and Christmas giving has turned into, well, almost a holdup. What I am saying is that if the receiver of the gift doesn’t get what they wanted they are disappointed and somehow you missed!
Well, enough of my thoughts of Scrooge this morning. I love the Christmas season and enjoy all the celebration of the day!
But it gets me to thinking: Somehow I believe that God {without the sinfulness of man} desires to give us everything our heart desires. Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
In the account of David’s life found in II Samuel 12, David had received from God everything his heart had desired, but he reached the place that he was no longer satisfied with what God had given him, but took what he wanted. God explained to David that as His Son, He had given David everything he needed and wanted and would have given him anything more he would ask for, but David took, without asking God.
The occasion of David’s transgression was an opportunity for the devil to ruin David’s life. As God’s child, David was severely disciplined for stepping outside the will of God because David was no longer satisfied with God’s gifts, but went about to take what he wanted without God’s express approval.
I wonder how many lives have been ruined because they received so many good gifts that they came to believe that they deserved them; AND whatever else they wanted….they took!
Lord, I thank you for all the benefits you have bestowed upon me…and I know I do not deserve even one, but your grace and mercy having been extended to me is the cause, not my goodness or deserving.
God is good. I have seen it.
