Summer Begins!

Our annual Memorial Day picnic was a great time! The weather was perfect with cloudy skies and just the slightest breeze.    We served over 130 hamburgers and 100 hot dogs {with less than ten left of each} and I have never seen the variety of desserts in my life, along with deviled eggs, salads, and all sorts of specialties as well as watermelon!  The kids played, the adults visited and the youth gathered together and played volleyball {oh! to be young again!}  It was just a wonderful time of sharing our lives.  The last of the party left at around 4:00 p.m. and I locked up the buildings with everything pretty well cleaned up and returned to normal.  Our thanks to everyone who helped make our picnic a great time!  And we Praise the Lord for a spirit of unity and harmony!

Monday was a welcome time to rest and reflect on the blessings of being a free country.  With as many challenges that face us and perverted leadership trying to destroy our morality, we are still a free people thanks to our God and His protective care and the men and women who gave their lives to preserve our ideals and freedom!

Today is our Monday of a short week.  There is much to cram into these next days and we are up to the task.  Take time to read God’s Word today and spend some time listening to Him {through meditating upon His Word}; it pays dividends all day long!

We will be in Philippians 1 Wednesday evening; I hope you will take time mid week to spend some time with us looking at the riches of God’s Word for your life.

Summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21 but for us it is here!  Our children are out of school, our minds are on the late afternoon and evenings when we have what seems to be extra time to just slow down and enjoy life.  Summer officially ends September 21, but all of us know that it ends much quicker than that…90 days maximum for the summer months…what will you do with these days?  I hope you will remember those things that matter most and give attention to them:

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

And it will change your life!

Ecclesiastes 3:1-17  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:  (2)  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;  (3)  A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;  (4)  A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;  (5)  A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;  (6)  A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;  (7)  A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;  (8)  A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.  (9)  What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?  (10)  I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.  (11)  He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.  (12)  I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.  (13)  And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.  (14)  I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.  (15)  That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.  (16)  And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.  (17)  I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
